What is VidSquid?

VidSquid is a free audience response system. Audience response systems are designed to collect moment-by-moment feedback for video and audio media, live presentations and speeches, commercials, broadcast video and debates, and just about any form of media where there's a desire to analyze or improve the content. Some of the ways that VidSquid has been used include:

  • Peer and performance evaluations (2 votes)
  • Improving speeches or presentations (2 votes)
  • Commercials and advertising (0 votes)
  • Message campaign improvement (0 votes)
  • Speech and language coaching (0 votes)
  • User interface development (0 votes)
  • Media training (0 votes)
  • Video and film editing (0 votes)

It's not just about the stars.

Normally, commercial audience response systems are very expensive and rely on electronic devices to collect instantaneous responses from live audiences and focus group participants. VidSquid harnesses the power of the internet; now any video uploaded to YouTube can collect dynamic, moment-by-moment audience feedback to get a better understanding of what viewers really liked and didn't like about the video.

Why would I lie?

Want to find out which part of your wedding everyone liked the most? Are you trying to improve your public service announcement? Are you looking to find which parts of your presentation you should cut out? VidSquid analyses get more accurate as more users rate each video. Since the results are anonymous, viewers have no incentive to tell you what they think you want to hear!

It's all confidential, baby.

VidSquid uses the secure oAuth protocol to authenticate with YouTube. We never see a user's password or credentials. Better yet, since we use the oAuth protocol to allow users to authenticate themselves, it's possible to set up private videos that only authors and their designated friends can see and review.
